The Chesapeake Chapter, CAI provides education opportunities for community association volunteers, professional community managers and service providers. Our education options range from beginner to advanced topics including community association operations, how to lead and manage people and how to avoid costly mistakes. Some of our education programs lead to professional designations.

Programming created for managers, homeowners, board members and service providers involved with the community association industry.  The Chesapeake Chapter Breakfast Seminar Programs are designed to provide the tools, resources and contacts to help you manage and work with community association volunteers, managers and business partners.  CAI programs encourage attendees to be proactive, involved and informed.

Managers receive Continuing Education Credits towards their CAI designations when they attend these breakfast programs.

The Board Leadership Development Workshop (formerly known as The Essentials of Community Association Volunteer Leadership course) is the next step in preparing to assume a leadership role in your community. 

The workshop consists of five modules:
Module 1: Governing Documents and Roles & Responsibilities
Module 2: Communications, Meetings and Volunteerism
Module 3: Fundamentals of Financial Management
Module 4: Professional Advisors and Service Providers
Module 5: Association Rules and Conflict Resolution
The workshop will teach you how to become a more successful board member and how you can recruit and support new volunteers. You’ll learn the role of the board, the president and other leadership positions, and you’ll identify effective ways to work with professional managers and service providers.

Professional Management Development Program (PMDP)
The PMDP consists of three levels of courses designed to give new managers a knowledge base and experienced managers a deeper understanding of all aspects of association management. Courses focus on such topics as insurance, finance, leadership, governance, and communications.

CAI awards qualified professionals with designations in order to improve the quality and effectiveness of community management. The following designations are awarded by CAI:

Certified Manager of Community Associations® (CMCA®)
Association Management Specialist® (AMS®)

Professional Community Association Manager® (PCAM®)
Accredited Association Management Company® (AAMC®)
Large-Scale Manager® (LSM®)
Reserve Specialist (RS)
